Salsa - Shāshā jiàng - 莎莎酱

Salsa - Shāshā jiàng - 莎莎酱

jiàng/酱 means sauce in Chinese so you often see it appended to the name of the sauce, in this case “Shāshā” for Salsa. Do you think Shāshā and Salsa sound similar enough? I do!

Today in our kitchen we are making salsa in a molcajete!

Ingredients:

🍅 garlic

🍅 jalapeños

🍅 onion

🍅 salt

🍅 tomatoes

🍅 cilantro

Executive Chef Prep work:

➡️ roast tomatoes, onions, jalapeños, and garlic on the grill or in the oven on broil. They should be slightly charred

Tasks for the Lil Sous Chef:

➡️ use the pestle to grind up the ingredients

It’s as simple as that! Enjoy! 🌯🌮
